For Which It Stands is a multimedia educational package produced by the American Legion. It includes a 20 minute video feature on DVD format focusing on a young man named "Joe", age 14, who learns about the significance and meaning of the flag through a series of revealing incidents. The DVD also includes the Legion-produced animated feature George Learns The Pledge, as well as instructional enhancements on flag etiquette and flag history. The Legion's request is to have the local units go into classrooms and present this video along with educational packets in an attempt to educate young people about the flag, pledge of allegiance care of the flag and all the aspects about flag etiquette--to promote patriotism in our youth and their families. I have already sent for a copy of the DVD, and we will make plans with the schools after reviewing the materials (Additional materials are available at the web site www.legion.org/ourflag). |
POCKET FLAGS We will be working on "pocket Flags". The object is to get as many flag into the pockets of our military personnel on the front line for them to know that we care and that we keep them in our hearts and prayers. Along with each flag a card is included with the inscription "A flag for your pocket so you can always carry a little piece of home. We are praying for you. |
